Hey 2020! What’s in store?

I may be late to the party but Happy New Year anyways! Hope everyone had an amazing start to the year. Mine started with some incredible fireworks over the River Thames with my family and one of my best friends.

Last year has been insane. I moved back to London and my partner Tom moved in, went on some great weekend trips and spent time with old and new friends. I’ve also been to some memorable gigs in some top venues and I got to share my London experience with my family when they came to visit.

Of course, it wasn’t all bright and bubbly. I also had some challenges with being unwell, tough employers and feeling down in dumps. But despite the challenges, 2019 has been incredible.

Now that we’ve reached 2020, you know what that means – it’s the end of my visa. While I’ve been dreading this year since the day I moved to the UK, it was always inevitable that it would come. I’ve come to peace with it and I know I’ve got nothing but the fond memories, the personal and work experiences I’ve gained and the friendships I’ve built to take back with me. Do I think I’ve changed? Hmm, that requires a lot of self-reflection that I’ll probably leave to another blog post.

It’s now February meaning there’s officially 8 WEEKS until I leave London. I think 2020 is going to be an amazing year. There are going to be some milestones but I welcome them.

Tom and I are going to be making our way back to New Zealand, with a little stopover in Bali where I’m going to be turning dirty thirty. One milestone. We’ve decided to set up camp in Auckland, a city I’ve never particularly warmed to but I’m also looking for change. I think that despite what I’ve felt about Auckland in the past, it’s going to be great. It’s gonna be like a new shiny toy with lots of new shiny features to explore with the other half. Another milestone.

I think spending some time in Bali in between is going to be incredible and I can’t wait.

I can’t wait to be surrounded by beaches and sun and I think it’s much needed particularly since I’m leaving one winter to go to another winter.

Anyways, that’s my little update of what I’m looking forward to and counting down for. It’s exciting! It’s gonna be great.

Have you got anything exciting planned for 2020?
