Cause once again, I really bloody can’t.
Since my last post, things have changed drastically. As you can imagine, a pandemic was definitely not on the cards for us and our plans.
We’ve cancelled Bali and after four breakdowns and lack of sleep because of trying to sort a flight back to New Zealand (and work out if my partner can actually get in) and realising there’s going to be a lockdown in both NZ and UK, we’ve decided to stay in the UK until the dust settles. It was a tough decision particularly because my visa has expired but the Home Office has recently announced that visa extensions will be granted until 31 May 2020. That’s certainly put my mind at ease! Last night was the first time I actually had a decent night’s sleep.
It’s scary, uncertain times but I think the best thing we can do is stay indoors, keep in touch with friends and family, look after ourselves and each other and try and keep calm. We’re at a point where we don’t know how long it’ll be until we can get our lives back to ‘normal’ but if we can keep ourselves entertained and use the time we have to try and build a new routine or learn something new, before you know it, we may have knocked the virus in the head and lockdowns will be lifted.
Anyways, I really hope you’re all doing well. As I mentioned in my last post, be kind and try to smile despite these pressing times. It’ll be over before we know it. As we say in New Zealand, Kia kaha (be strong).
